Is the race officially timed?

Official times will be provided by our timing company and will count for your new PB! These will be posted on social media and linked in our post race email to you.

How old do I have to be to run?

4 years old or older on Race Day for Family Mile and all under 16s taking part in the Family Mile must be accompanied by an adult. You must be 16 years or older on race day to take part in the 10K, and 11 years or older on race day to take part in the 5K.

Is there a cut-off time?

All races must be completed by 11:30 to re-open the airfield.

Is there a medal for finishers?

Yes! Imperial War Museums (IWM) have a unique 2024 Duxford Dash finisher medal for all 5K and 10K finishers and a special sew on Duxford Dash 2024 patch for finishers taking part in the 1 Mile Family Dash.

Is there a race T shirt?

Yes! Imperial War Museums (IWM) have a brilliant new T shirt design for 2024 to represent everything about running the Duxford Dash. This can be purchased at the same time as your race entry ticket and collected on race day.

What time does the race start?

The 5k and 10K begins at 9.30am. The Family Mile will begin at 10.45am.

What time can I enter Duxford on the day?

The car parks will open from 7:30am and the admissions will open from 8am.

What are the dates of the races?

Sunday 20 October 2024.

Where does the race start?

The race starts and finishes at IWM Duxford.

Is there a map of the course?

Absolutely - a map of each distance is available on the distance specific race pages.

Where do we collect our race number from?

All entries prior to two weeks before the race will be posted to you. For late entries (within 14 days of event) or if your number hasn’t arrived via post, please report to the registration tent in the event village on Race Day.

What entertainment is available at the event?

More details will be posted on this closer to the event - but expect music, food and drink!

Can I run with my dog?

Unfortunately, running with dogs is not permitted.

Can I bring my dog to the event village?

Only Registered Assistance animals can be brought on to the IWM Duxford site.

Can I bring my family and friends to watch?

You can absolutely bring your supporters to cheer you on! There is a special priced spectator ticket which includes entry to IWM Duxford for the event day. This must be purchased at the same time of registering your entry and buying your race ticket. Spectator tickets cannot be brought separately.

Can I run with headphones?

Bone conducting headphones are allowed in line with England Athletics rules, but in ear headphones of all types are banned from this event.

Is the route suitable for wheelchair users and disabled athletes?

The event is suitable for wheelchair users and disabled athletes. Participants wishing to compete with specialised equipment or needs are asked to contact us before entering to ensure we can accommodate any additional requirements and give you the best race day experience!

As a disabled athlete can I be accompanied by a personal assistant?

Yes absolutely, after some great feedback from last year’s event we have introduced a free personal assistant ticket for disabled athletes. Disabled athletes’ personal assistant tickets must be selected at the same time as registering your race entry and buying your race ticket. Personal assistant tickets cannot be registered separately.

How many places are available?

The total race participation is limited to 1200 over all distances. Last year all places sold out in advance of places closing. We recommend booking early to secure your race entry.

Who are the event organisers?

The event is organised by Good Running Events Ltd and Imperial War Museums. Good Running Events Ltd are IWM’s race event partner, including managing entry booking, and pre and post event communications. If you would like to stay in touch with Imperial War Museums to find out more about other events, news and stories from their collection you can join the regular enewsletter.

Am I able to transfer / defer my place?

Please check the registration pages for specific details about deadlines for transfers and deferrals. No transfers or deferrals will be accepted after the advertised date/time, shown within the event description on the registration page. This is also publicised via social media.

Are there toilet facilities available at the event?

Yes - there are ample toilet facilities available to use in the event village.

Are there water stations on route?

There is a water station based at the 5K point of the 10K distance only, along with water available at the finish line. Where possible please bring a reuseable cup or bottle to help with Foreign Object Debris on the airfield, which can pose a major threat to aircraft.

Can I run the route in advance of race day?

This is a special opportunity to access the historic live airfield and unfortunately it is not possible to run the route ahead of race day. Duxford Dash is a great race to complete year on year as you challenge yourself to run faster or further at the airfield that made history.

Can I run as Chaperone?

Adults / chaperones need not register separately for the Family Mile if they are already participating in the 10K / 5K but must wear their respective bib during the event.

Will the event be licensed?

No the event will not be licensed.

Can I run with pushchair / buggy?

The event is suitable for Buggies, Pushchairs, Strollers or similar.

I’m an IWM member can I enter with my membership?

The Duxford Dash is a special commercial event and entry is not part of the

membership scheme.

Do the prices include a booking fee?

The events ticketing partner charge a booking fee. The booking fee is included within your ticket price.

How will my data be stored and managed?

Good Running Events Ltd are the data processor and data handler. You can also refer to the IWM Privacy Policy at iwm.org.uk

Will there be photography on the day?

Please be aware that IWM staff will be taking film and photographs of this event, for press, publicity and marketing purposes. Images may also be preserved as part of IWM’s historic record. See our Privacy Policy at iwm.org.uk.

There will also be a photographer from Epic Action Imagery who will be taking event photography and details about how to access images will be confirmed via social media and in the race guide.
